The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments are a set of biblical principles that are considered to be the foundation of moral and ethical behavior in the Abrahamic religions. They are found in the Old Testament of the Bible, specifically in the book of Exodus, and are attributed to God's direct communication with Moses on Mount Sinai.

The story of the Ten Commandments begins in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament of the Bible. According to the story, the Israelites had been enslaved in Egypt for many years, and God chose Moses to lead them out of slavery and into the Promised Land.

When Moses came down from the mountain, he found that the Israelites had become impatient and had built a golden calf to worship. Moses was angry and smashed the tablets, but later went back up the mountain to receive a new set of tablets with the commandments written on them.
